Printing larger eggs works well for this activity.
  1. Plan out where you will be hiding each of your clues.
  2. Download your FREE egg sets – one design per player. 3 players? Print 3 designs. You can use your printer’s settings to print as many to a page as you would like. Bigger print outs might be more user friendly for younger children or someone with a vision loss.
  3. Print them out on to card.
  4. Cut them out.
  5. Push a split pin in where the black dot shows you.
  6. Write 1 clue per egg.
  7. Close the eggs up to hide the clues.
  8. Hide your eggs around your house or garden (the placement and order of this is important). Keep the first clue with you.
  9. Hide your prize/prizes.

How To Complete Your Following CLues Challenge

A hint takes this to a whole new level!
  1. Tell your players which egg design they are looking for.
  2. On “Ready, steady, go!” they read their first clue and help them find the location of the next clue, then the next, etc. The final clue will reveal the location of the prize.
  3. Everyone’s a winner!

VERSION 2: CARD HUNT

If you haven’t got the time, resources or patience to cut out all these eggs, try out this second version. My daughter did this challenge when she was 4 and loved it so much that she attempted to write her own clues to set up her own hunt too. Love a little inspiration and motivation!

You will need:

  • White card or parcel tags
  • Coloured pens
  • A prize (a toy, book, Easter egg, anything!)

Depending on their phonics skills, you might choose to use targeted spelling patterns in your clues e.g. ‘ee’ words or ‘igh’ words.
