Welcome back. Another week of fun and new learning opportunities ahead.
Please remember, if your child is learning using Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics or another reading scheme, you can still use our practical activities and resources to support their learning, the order your child learns them might vary slightly. Which letters and sounds are we learning this week?
Our 4 letters for this week are G, O, C, K.
Your child will need to learn the letter names like you say them when saying the alphabet (A, B, C) as well as the letter sounds.
They will likely be presented with both the UPPERCASE (capitals) and lowercase (not capitals). When writing, they may focus on the lowercase formation, to begin with.
Which high frequency words are we learning this week?
Our common words are ‘got’, ‘on’, ‘not’ and ‘can’.
Take a look at our High-Frequency Word activities for some ideas.
What can we do with this week’s sounds?
Sensory alphabet letters with pipe cleaners
What words can I create?
Don’t forget to mix this week’s letters with those letters from previous weeks. That way, you can keep practising them and you can create a wider range of words. For ideas on the simple, HFW and tricky words you can create with the letters we’ve learned so far, please look at our word lists.
