How to use your Water Play Letters activity

There are many ways you can use this set up. Here are a few of them:

1. Play

Just let your little learner splash, sink, float, balance… anything they can think of with these letters.

2. Shout and search

Search for the letters. Spelling with water fun. Water play with letters
Shout and search – FIND THAT LETTER!

Call out a sound and the players need to find the letter that makes this sound. Tun up the challenge. Call out longer sounds such as ‘igh’ or ‘ai’ for them to find groups of letters to create the sounds.

3. Speedy spelling

The possibilities are endless.

Call out a word. Your little learner must find the right letters to spell out the word. This is great if you have a particular spelling pattern to practise. If you have several sets of letters you can use this to engage even your year 6 children in spelling fun!

4. Word fishing

Should you be lucky enough to have a magnetic fishing rod, many letter sets are magnetic and a little more skill is needed to catch the needed letters. Great for developing persistence and coordination skills.
