Because we love our water play here at Parent’s Homework Hub, we pick our letters using a fishing rod, but you could pick from a feely bag or even work through the alphabet in order. Find out how you play I-Spy Initial Letter Search indoors or outside.
You will need:
- A container
- Bubblebath / food colouring / glitter (biodegradable) – all optional
- Fishing rod
- Letters set
Instead of the water set up, you could use:
How to play the game
- Select your first letter either fishing or choosing from your bag or box.
- FOR YOUNGER PLAYERS – go on a hunt for objects they can see that begin with that sound.
FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS OR FOUNDATION STAGE PLAYERS – draw pictures of the things they find.
FOR OLDER PLAYERS – write the things they have found.
- The players with the most things on their list, is the winner.
Why not turn this activity into a fantastic alphabet scrapbook?
Collect as many items as you can, draw objects and let your little learner take photos to put together sound collages and create an alphabet scrapbook.
